Amphetamines

Amphetamines

Amphetamines are drugs that stimulate the nervous system. They may be used in the treatment of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), narcolepsy (a sleeping disorder), and other conditions.

Amphetamines produce increased alertness and a feeling of euphoria. Common amphetamine medicines include dextroamphetamine (Dexedrine) and lisdexamfetamine (Vyvanse).

Amphetamines can be misused and are sometimes sold illegally with names such as speed, ice, meth, and lid poppers.
