Fibroadenoma

Fibroadenoma

A fibroadenoma is a firm, non-cancerous tumour of a gland, often found in the breast during a breast self-examination. It is round and painless, feels firm and rubbery, and can be easily moved around.

Fibroadenomas may occur as one lump or multiple lumps in the breast. They are most common in women in their late teens and early 20s and occur more frequently in black women.

A breast biopsy is sometimes used to tell the difference between a fibroadenoma and breast cancer.
