Health Connect Registry

Register on the Health Connect Registry to get a family doctor or nurse practitioner in your community.

Keeping your information up to date will help us make the best match for you and the people you care for. You will receive emails from the Health Connect Registry Team from time to time from healthconnectregistrydonotreply@hlth.gov.bc.ca. Please call 8-1-1 if you have any questions about how we are contacting you or phishing concerns on these emails.

If you live in British Columbia and need a family doctor or nurse practitioner, register for the Health Connect Registry. A strong, long-term primary care provider and patient relationship is an important step in you and your family’s healthful living.

Register to get a family doctor or nurse practitioner

When you register, you are added to a list of people in need of a family doctor or nurse practitioner in your community. 

Registration takes less than five minutes. To register, please provide your:

  • Personal Health Number (PHN), found on your BC Services Card or BC Driver's Licence
  • Home address
  • Email address and phone number

To help us find you a match, you will have the option to inform us of any new and recent changes to your health when you register. If you registered prior to mid-April 2024, you will receive an invitation by phone or email to respond to these additional health questions. Find out more about the health questions.

How to register in other languages

Call 8-1-1 to register for the Health Connect Registry in languages other than English.

Translation services are available in over 130 languages.

After dialing 8-1-1, you will be connected with an English-speaking health service navigator. For service in another language, simply state the language (for example, say “Punjabi”), and an interpreter who speaks that language will join the call.


Who should register

If you live in B.C. and need a family doctor or nurse practitioner, you can register. You can register yourself and your family members. You can also register on behalf of a person in your care, for example, you may be a health care provider or social worker.

If you already have a family doctor or nurse practitioner, you don’t need to register.

If you’re on a clinic or community waitlist

Waitlists at clinics in B.C. are transitioning to the Health Connect Registry. If you’re already on a waitlist at your local clinic, you can choose to register again now, or you can wait to be contacted directly about your registration. You will maintain your original waitlist registration date from the clinic.

If you registered for the Health Connect Registry prior to July 2023

Prior to July 2023, the Health Connect Registry was only available in a small number of participating communities. If you registered for the Health Connect Registry prior to July 2023, you do not need to re-register. You are already on the list. You will be contacted when a family doctor or nurse practitioner is available.


After you register

When a family doctor or nurse practitioner in your area becomes available, the team in your community will contact you. They may also contact you by phone or email for more information or to offer health care support while you wait to be matched. You can access health care services in your community by visiting an Urgent and Primary Care Centre, a walk-in clinic or through your local pharmacy.
