A PET-CT scan is a test that combines positron emission tomography (PET) and computed tomography (CT). The test creates detailed pictures of structures inside the body and the chemical processes that take place in cells. It may be used to look for cancer, check blood flow, or to find out how well organs and tissues are working. A combined PET-CT scan provides more information than either test can by itself.
