The tendons at the front of the knee connect the quadriceps muscles at the front of the thigh to the shin bone (tibia). The upper tendon is called the quadriceps tendon, and it connects the quadriceps muscles to the kneecap (patella). The lower tendon is called the patellar tendon, and it connects the kneecap to the shin bone.
