Our website provides medically-approved information on more than 5,000 health and nutrition topics, symptoms, and interactive health tools and tips for maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Our HealthLinkBC Directory also offers an integrated search and mapping function to more than 6,100 health services to help British Columbians find health services close to their home communities.
The content on our website is created, reviewed, and updated by a variety of sources. This includes subject matter experts across the province, service providers, our internal clinical team, our team of registered dietitians, and our knowledgebase supplier Healthwise®.
Our Content
HealthLinkBC Directory
The HealthLinkBC Directory provides detailed information about how, and where, to find health services in B.C. It contains directory information about health, mental health, and addictions treatment services in B.C., including the organizations that offer the services and the locations where they are offered. Our team of data stewards obtain the service information directly from the health authorities, not-for-profit organizations and other service providers. HealthLinkBC Files
The HealthLinkBC Files are easy-to-read fact sheets about public health and safety topics, available on our website and at local public health units. All HealthLinkBC Files are available in English with most topics translated into Chinese, Farsi, French, Korean, Punjabi, Spanish, and Vietnamese. HealthLinkBC Files are created, reviewed and updated in collaboration with subject matter experts across the province and our internal clinical and dietitian teams. Healthy Eating
Our Healthy Eating resources include information related to topics such as everyday healthy eating for everyone, healthy eating for your age and stage, and healthy eating for your condition. In addition, we also provide information for schools and communities and for professionals, including the Brand Name Food List. HealthyFamilies BC
In 2021, HealthyFamilies BC merged with HealthLinkBC.ca. This makes HealthLinkBC.ca the Ministry of Health's single online source of health information. Finding the information you need, when you need it, is easier than ever. You can now find all the healthy living and wellness articles that you loved on HealthyFamilies BC, on HealthLinkBC.ca.
HealthyFamilies BC provided families with engaging information and resources to support health-related decision-making. The initiative was part of a 2011 provincial strategy aimed at improving the health and well-being of British Columbians. HealthyFamilies BC content was created and maintained in partnership with many health care providers and agencies across the province. This included a number of key partners such as Raising Children Network, Fonds Educ'alcool Inc. and others.

Healthwise®
The Healthwise® knowledgebase is the foundation of the HealthLink BC website. Healthwise® is an non-profit organization that develops health content and patient education solutions for hospitals, care management companies and consumer health portals (websites) such as HealthLink BC. Their knowledgebase provides explanations of medical conditions, symptoms, tests and treatments, and also provides interactive decision aids and tools that help people answer questions such as “what is your stress level?” For more information on Healthwise® including their terms of use and how they develop their information, click on the links below.
