Mackenzie sits on the traditional territory of the McLeod Lake Indian Band. They are part of the proud Tse’khene group of Aboriginal peoples that also includes bands at Kwadacha and Tseh Kay Dene.

A Primary Care Network (PCN) is a community-based network of health care professionals and clinics who plan and deliver the health care needs of a community.
The Northern Interior Rural PCN is a collaborative partnership between Northern Health, First Nations Health Authority, Carrier Sekani Family Services, Northern Interior Rural Division of Family Practice and the Ministry of Health. Together we work with local clinics to help connect people living in or near Mackenzie, McLeod Lake, Tsay Kay Dene and Kwadache to a primary care provider (either a family doctor or nurse practitioner).
